GOODBYE TO THE SINGING PIZZA MAN

It is with much sadness that we announce that our uncle Pinu, the Singer Pizza Supremo, passed away peacefully after a brief illness on Saturday 3rd March 2007.

The 77 year old nimble fingered master of dough worked at Salvo’s for twenty years before he finally hung up his pizza shovel in 1996.

When “Salvo’s” opened in 1976 he quickly became one of the main attractions entertaining customers and children with his spontaneous operatic outbursts into song while he was busily making pizzas. During his entire career spaning four decades he made over a million pizzas using his trademark dough recipe.

Despite 10 years having passed since he retired, we still have customers coming in and regaling with fond memories of happy times with him. Many of these original customers now return with their own children and grandchildren.

Pinu returned only last year for an evening at Salvo’s as part of our 30th birthday celebration where he helped prepare his legendary Millionario pizza.

More recently he was often to be seen in our Salumeria on a morning having his daily shot of caffeine.

The Funeral will take place at Immaculate Heart Church on Harrogate Road Leeds on Monday 12th March. Details Hughes Funeral Services 0113 248 0953
