HEAD chef Mick Leggiero is to celebrate 20 years at one of Leeds' longest established restaurants with a gastronomic trip to Rome. Mick, whose parents hail from Southern Italy, joined Headingley-based Salvo's in 1986 as a kitchen apprentice and is now in charge of a brigade of 12 chefs at the award-winning restaurant.
Salvo's proprietor John Dammone presented Mick with the tickets for his trip to the Italian capital.
He said "Mick's passion and enthusiasm for Italian food are cornerstones of Salvo's success and longevity."
Mick said: "I am really excited about sampling the food in some of Rome's finest restaurants and trying out some new recipes with my brigade when I get back."
